Grassroots Support Propels Weatherford Campaign

State Representative Will Weatherford announced today that he has received enough valid signatures to qualify for the 2010 ballot. To date, he is the only candidate for House District 61 set to qualify by the people’s petition.

"I feel honored that so many citizens from across the district have taken the time and effort to demonstrate their early support," commented Weatherford. "I’m proud of our campaign’s grassroots efforts and plan to continue reaching out with our message of growing our economy, without growing government or breaking the bank."

The Supervisor of Elections offices in Hillsborough and Pasco counties finished counting signatures after receiving petitions from Representative Weatherford’s campaign last week. Signatures from 1% percent of the registered voters are required to make the ballot. As the third largest district in the state with 143,263 registered voters, 1,433 validated petitions were required.

House District 61 encompasses central and eastern Pasco County as well as a portion of Hillsborough County.
