Restarting the Economy

For Florida’s economy to rebound, we need to keep taxes down, maintain fiscal discipline, and create a business climate where new and existing industries can succeed.   More government spending is not the answer.

Quality Schools

Parental involvement along with excellent teachers and disciplined classrooms are keys to success.  Our education system has to be accountable so we must maintain the measures that tell us how our schools are doing and where we need to improve.  And, we must never forget that children, not “systems” or bureaucracies, must always come first.

Smarter–and Smaller–Government

Now more than ever, government must prioritize its spending to focus on its core missions: schools, public safety, and assisting children and seniors in need.  We need to scrutinize all government spending, with a clear sense of what’s really in the best interests of our state.  No sacred cows, and no “bridges to nowhere.”

Energy Independence

The best way for new technologies and industries to emerge is through the working of the free market.  However, when it’s appropriate, government should partner with private industry to speed the development of alternative energy sources.

Health Care Freedom

We need access to health care to be as good as our technology.  More choices and more freedom are the answers, not more government and more red tape.

Safe Streets

Lax punishment leads to more crimes being committed.  Every year, bills are introduced in the Legislature to let convicted criminals out of prison before they’ve completed their sentences; we must continue to stop these efforts, which would leave our communities less safe than before.

Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration

Florida taxpayers have enough on their plate without having to pay the extra costs associated with illegal immigration.  We need a crackdown on documents fraud, and we must empower law enforcement to detain illegals and penalize the businesses that knowingly hire them.
